Halloween Countdown Day 6, waffles and charlie brown

After making red, white and blue waffles for Bastille Day, I felt kind of like that guy who makes one good joke and repeats it forever, and ever and ever, and I was like, “how can I color waffles for every holiday, ever?”  It really is the easiest way to start your day off in a festive way, and it doesn’t require any planning other than having some food coloring on hand.  If your kids are cool and actually eat sprinkles, that would be even more like a party on a plate.

These waffles were an ode to pumpkins and candy corn.  You could also do green witch faces, black cauldrons, orange and black stripes, or purple and green monsters.  Whatever you do, try not to heat them up over level 3 or they might not come out as vibrant as you want.   If you have a couple spoons of pumpkin puree left over from other bakes, mix it into the waffle batter of your choice that you want orange.  I did mine using Kodiak Cake pancake and waffle mix because I need to sneak protein into my boys anytime it can, and waffles hide it well.

I think the only Halloween movie that can go with a treat this wholesome has to be “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.”  This movie has it all, suspense, excitement and the chance to experience the inevitable disappointment in men all women will go through in life (sorry Sally, I will def share my candy with you girl.  We got this.)
